Getting More Colorful with Age

I often say, “I want to be more colorful as I age.” What do I mean by that? Just as the leaves change in the Fall and become more colorful over time, I want to create more beauty and positive energy than I can alone. From this, I hope others will take after my example and continue my colorful work. “Being more colorful” means trying new things, laughing more, staying socially connected, constantly learning, and scaring yourself a little every day.

At Acacia Creek, a Masterpiece Living Certified Center for Successful Aging, and retirement community, we believe that being more colorful is an important part of all wellness categories – intellectual, social, physical, and purposeful. Here are some ways tips for adding color to your life:

  • Go out of your way to meet new people.
  • Sign up for a class about a topic of interest that you’ve never tried before.
  • Seek out opportunities that bring more meaning and purpose to your life.
  • Find a reason to laugh each day.
